Engineering Excellence in Public Art

The Mirage project is a partnership between VCG Global that calls upon our engineering skills and innovative spirit to demonstrate not only our mechanical engineering designs but also custom fixture design and build required for assembly and installation. This project has set the mark on fusing art and structure. The project has been awarded 8th place internationally in 2023 and VCG Global has been recognized as a valued partner.

Over four hundred glass columns, each 1.80 meters tall, were produced according to individual glass recipes developed from the sands sourced from all over the world's deserts. Such attention to detail in the production process guaranteed that each cylinder was not identical to any other, either in appearance or structure.

This arrangement de deux of the glass columns with the olive trees at the Apple Park Visitor Center demanded a highly conceived model observed and carried out. Custom fixtures for installation were designed for seamless integration among the glass pillars into the natural surroundings, enabling them to appear as if they rise from beneath the earth.

Light Interplay and Completion

When the sun sets, the Mirage Installation comes alive with a very soft presence. The work the design had given it for a nighttime appearance speaks for an extraordinary study. Glass and light were made to interact and trigger, under the movement of the viewer around them, further changes in the view: changes caused by precise exploitation of the reflective capabilities inherent in materials employed.

Lite at Night

It is at night, when all becomes dark, that the Mirage Installation indeed plays its charm, reflecting its nocturnal character in the play of shadow and light. Completed as it is, this work is by day merely evidence of craftsmanship done carefully, but by night, an exploration of this dynamic between artistic and environmental elements.

A Global Tribute

Mirage is more than a sculpture; it is a global homage to the deserts of the world. By incorporating sand from various regions, each piece speaks to the geological and cultural richness of its origin.

At VCG Global, we take pride in pushing both the art-only actual boundary in engineering and creating experiences that resonate with, but also respect, the natural world.
